MONTE VISTA SCHOOL offers a personalized, alternative educational option allowing students to learn at their own pace in a caring and supportive environment. Monte Vista is located on a beautiful campus at 1220 Fourth Street in Simi Valley and includes self-paced and online learning. Monte Vista may meet the needs of both students in general education and with an IEP as determined at the IEP Team meeting. To find out more about this program or to schedule a campus tour, contact Monte Vista at (805) 579-6326.
HOME TEACHING may be provided for general education students who are experiencing health problems that interfere with their school attendance. Home teaching is a temporary solution intended to help a student address his/her medical needs while maintaining his/her course of study while s/he cannot physically attend a school campus. Home teaching requires a doctor order. Contact your school nurse for more information.
After recommendation and approval by the Director of Student Support Services, a student may receive in-home teaching for a maximum of five hours per week. This option is recommended only when specific SVUSD criteria are met and requires parental involvement to meet educational requirements. The student will receive credit for work completed during this time; however, if the student is unable to actively work with the home teacher, the option will be re-examined and another educational avenue may be selected.
HOME HOSPITAL TEACHING: Home hospital teaching is similar to home teaching or students but where students work toward their IEP goals. Home hospital teaching must be recommended by the IEP Team based on a student's needs. Contact your student’s special education case manager for more information about Home Hospital Teaching and whether or not your child qualifies..
